How do your soybean varieties branch and what does that mean to placement and population? Agronomist Greg Ury talks about how to evaluate and manage at BASF field day.

Lots of coffee shop talk on "drought induced K deficiency" this year. Why then is field across fence appear fine w/same rainfall? Soil tests from service calls show its just plain old K deficiency! Fields with soil tests in the Pioneer Yield Pyramid recommendations are fine.

“Forty Chances” by Howard Buffet refers to the idea that a farmer has 40 growing seasons in a lifetime to grow and improve a crop. This harvest makes 55 for my dad. Something to aspire to. #harvest23 #FarmLife #Kentucky #Legacy

Let’s hope the groundhog knows what he is talking about, only the 21st time in 138 years Phil hasn’t seen his shadow. The last time an early spring was predicted was 2020, the last time I was able to plant soybeans on March 9th. Looks like it’s time to start going through planter

Watch out WCIL, the devil #waterhemp is beginning to emerge on May 8th. Not only is the emergence date of waterhemp becoming earlier and earlier each year, but with wet conditions getting sprayers in the field to control this beast timely is going to be tough!

I was flipping through Prime Video last night and came across this movie and the description was intriguing. This is a movie all farmers should watch, it shows the unfortunate evolution of farming over the past 20 years and we need to realize that we are all in this together!

Lots and lots of “dirty” soybean fields this year. Driving around the country side it looks a lot like it did prior to 2017 when Xtend soybeans were released. Back to the drawing board for 2025 .

The dreaded 100% chance….. we’ve been missing a lot of rain in this geography and I have a feeling this one will dissipate as well. I know there are several areas that don’t want any moisture, but we would gladly welcome it around here!
