I’m trying to decide if it’s worth scraping and piling more pens with this dry snow. Winter was a lot more fun when I was a kid.

Cattle get a generator 24/7 while my 88yr old dad and I share another one enough enough to keep the freezer cold and get a luke warm shower, power out almost two days, hopefully tomorrow. Nice moisture but kinda inconvenient. Glad I have a low maintenance wife.

Went to top off the fuel just before dark and the meter came alive, big thank you to Cornhusker Public Power and all the linemen that came down to help.

I bought my first cat loader a 924g with 10k hours, it had been at Blake Albers 🥩 grandpas yard, ran it to 16k hours and all I did was service it and replaced 1 hydraulic line, if you going from a farm loader to a wheel loader there’s a big difference. Disclaimer that was pre DEF.

Feed truck supervisor wanted to wear my hat and feed “her” cattle, says she’s a cattle feeder now, I think as soon as her feet reach the pedals she will be qualified.

Anybody on here use seed firmers on JD exactemerge planters with success, ever since I’ve had this planter it seems like I find a few seeds not at the bottom of the furrow, idk if the brush flips it up? #agx

Had to raid the veterinary instrument drawer to surgically extract a shop rag from the central fill tube on the planter, carry on #plant25

Seasonally basis flips by fall, its great now but seems like there’s some pain ahead. With wide basis swings, seems like CME Group live cattle contract has the potential to become an ineffective margin tool. Would love to hear some comments from people smarter than me about this.

We’re in that position where you need to be careful what you ask because you might get it, #cashcattle is a lot more fun when the leverage favors us for a change. Must be about 7 or 8 weeks in a row for ATHs.

Been 30 years since I was a vet student and came down here a time or two, thankful for the 4 years I spent in Manhattan. #EMAW

Looking at steer and heifer slaughter numbers over the last 2 months I see about 500k short from last year, can usda not calculate correctly or do feedyards send them bad numbers? $400 dressed seems possible this year. #cashcattle

Maybe I’m just getting old and worn out but after unloading feeders in the middle of the night last night and loading fats this morning in 5 inches of rain, I think your ribeyes are still too cheap. #eatbeef

It can always be interesting what I find when I get to the feedyard, first time I’ve found donkeys on the loose, apparently there was a jailbreak at the neighbors last night.

Usually can tame a friendly steer that likes to be scratched, ranch tag 2A was tame from day one so after 120 days on feed why not take a ride. On a side note riding bulls seems kind of difficult, the skin is pretty loose and there are no withers. #Nebraskabeef
