Dear #startrek community: I ask your help in getting an #accessible Wizard Of Oz Audiobook off the ground. Audio description and ASL. I’m honoured to have voiced the Scarecrow for this. There’s a kickstarter campaign on the go….Please help if you can bit.ly/Bruce_Scarecrow

Dear @TwitterA11y -Just in case we wake up tomorrow and you’re not here- Thank you for all you’ve done to make Twitter more accessible. Thx for your transparency in sharing accomplishments and what’s still on the roadmap. Thx for the alt text reminder and lots more. #a11y

Journalists and media orgs who are covering Musk’s Twitter… While you obsess over why and what’s next, consider there’s no longer an accessibility team inside the company. It’s a sure sign they don’t think users like myself are worth a damn. Again with the ableism.

#DaylightSavingTime ends tonight. Remember to check your smoke alarms & carbon monoxide detectors! According to the NFPA, almost 3 of every 5 home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms. Please check your smoke alarms today!

Voiceover (the screen reader Blind people use on iPhone) describes Elon's profile photo as "a child holding a telephone". Sometimes the AI gets it almost too right

We'd like to thank ryandour for sharing this wonderful video guide he put together on how visually impaired travelers can navigate the #CentralSubway. youtu.be/bAu3YUcPNxo

This is excellent news for visually impaired Muni riders. Navigating between parked cars to get onto a bus is a good way to get injured by any number of awkward items sticking out from vehicles such as mirrors and tailgates. sfchronicle.com/sf/article/S-F…

My blind son, Luke, is now an Apple watch owner! Luke wanted an Apple Watch so that he could voice text and call people on it. The Apple employee, Sean, helped us out. Sean also happens to be blind himself. It was awesome to have someone blind help us. 😁

So first Twitter cleans house on their accessibility team, then yesterday officially bans Twitter clients that were focused on making Twitter accessible like Twitterrific. This makes Twitter overnight a platform that is nearly unusable. The joy is sucked out of Twitter entirely.

I enjoyed casual reading of tweets. The effort now required to even navigate this UI on any of my devices makes it a chore, not a pleasure. Twitter was the great RSS feed I always wanted, but now its a focus lacking mess of a platform.

Anyone watching the #GRAMMYs, audio description for blind and visually impaired is live and working quite well. Thanks to #GRAMMYs for being inclusive and accessible. #A11y
