A great afternoon at the Preston, Riddlington and Wing Flower Show. Lots of talent, skills and enthusiasm on show. It's fantastic that these wonderful traditions continue to blossom. Big thanks to the committe and all those who worked so hard to make it a great success.

80 years ago today the Second World War finally came to an end with Victory in Japan. A war often known as the forgotten war. Today we say Thankyou and we remember all those servicemen and woman who played their part and Those that paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Marking the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day at Rocks by Rails. Singapore is a steam engine that was captured & used by the Japanese Army. It is now a War Memorial for Far East Prisoners of War. Those POWs were to be executed if the Allies invaded Japan. Thankfully that did not happen

The John Petit exhibition in the Museum is fantastic. The display of Britiain's lost pre-Impressionist artist includes watercolours of our area, churches, landscapes and industial paintings. Congratulations to Philip Modiano and Chris Baker for putting it all together. Tip top!

Steam up at the Pub. The Traction Engine outing from the Stapleford Miniture Railway Open Day. The smell of hot oil, burning coal and hot metal - what's not to like? Pop over to the Open Day this weekend and see miniture engineering at its best. Absolutely joy!

Lovely people raising funds for Breast Cancer Now by walking the @Rutland Round. Beth and friends did a little over 70 miles in our beautiful county to support all those that have been touched by this awful disease. Go Girls! We are proud of you all!

The East Midlands Air Ambulance provides extraordinary emergency life saving interdiction across our counties. Their passion, professionalism and capabilities are outstanding and is all funded by the generousity of the public. They deserve our full support and are great people!

The Air Ambulance's pilots, aero medics and consultants can do amazing things at accidents, ranging from open heart surgery, life saving stabilistation to C-section. All this through meticulous planning, training and collaboration. Big thanks to the team for hosting us.

A great day at Ride & Stride raising funds for Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust. The aim is to visit as many of the 64 beuatiful churches as you wish. I managed 62 on a motorbike. A wonderful day and big thanks to the delightful people manning the churches.

A wonderful clebration in St Mary's Greetham of the re-dedication of the refurbished bells and frames by the Bishop of Peterborough, the Right Rev Debbie Sellin. The Church now has a beautiful peal of bells, rung with skill and dexterity, that should ring out for 100s of years.

Rutland Sailability's UK Open Challenger Championship Regatta was a great success. The racing drew competitors from all over the country to compete and enjoy camaraderie. Rory from Scotland was the overall winner. Big thank you to Caz and the team for a joyous event.

At the Leicestershire Police Act of Remembrance today to mark the outstanding service, fortitude, bravery and sacrifice of our officers. The Chief Constable lead a moving ceremony. Thankfully no one was killed in the line of duty this year. We owe then a debt of gratitude.

A great evening with the 7th Oakham Guides. A wonderful group of people making the most of life and enjoying themselves. Had great chats with motivated, happy girls and the opportunity to present well deserved Silver Awards. The Girl Guides are an excellent organisation.

Leicestershire Police held a fantastic Cultural Event last night. It excelled in promoting understanding and building bonds within our communities. Given the terrorsit anti-semitic attack in Manchester this type of event if of the highest importance. Thank you to the team.

At the Armed Forces Veterans' Breakfast Club in Oakham. Mark and Tracey Taylor recieve an award for their outstanding initiative setting up the club 7 years ago and nurturing it from small beginings to a thriving community. A huge thank you. You have made our lives better.

The Whissendine Air Ambulance Tea Party was packed out raising funds for a wonderful charity. The team put on a fantastic event. A really happy afternoon. Also a great opportunity to say thank you to the ladies that walked the Rutland Round for Breast Cancer UK.

At St John's Ryhall with Dr Sandra celebrating this beautiful medieval church. The community are driving forward restoration. The leaky roof was replaced in 2023 and now work starts on the interior. It will last another 800 years and a visit is strongly recommended.

A team from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are marching to all Stations in memory of John Partridge, the watch manager at Billesdon, who died unexpectedly last year leaving a young family. At Uppingham to welcome the team who represent the best of service and team work.
