As Chair of the Transport Committee I'm delighted that our first public evidence session with the Secretary of State Louise Haigh has kicked off today. You can watch it live via the link below 👇 parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/9d…

Very important line here from Louise Haigh on road safety: "We treat road safety in a way as if it is somehow a natural accident. If the number of people being killed or seriously injured on our roads, were being killed in any other way, we'd be treating it as a pandemic."

It is welcome the Government are bringing our railways back into public ownership after years of poor services. I asked Louise Haigh what the DFT were doing to ensure there was adequate capacity to manage the extra workload. Watch my Q below 👇

Pleased to join Women's Institute this week to learn more about the impact that microplastics released from our clothing can have on our environment. I'm backing action to reduce microplastics and look forward to supporting this campaign.

''Over the course of this parliament, the government is determined to honour the commitments made in our manifesto and do what is necessary to finally bring the feudal leasehold system to an end.'' An extremely welcome statement from the Government questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statem…

Fascinating interview with Barbara Castle champion of vital road safety legislation as SoS Department for Transport in mid 1960s. She talks about death threats after ‘67 Road Traffic Act (seat belts/breathalyser/70mph) but celebrates evidence of lives saved! #InternationalWomensDay
