The net-winged beetle Platycis minutus, found this morning in Footherly Woods. Very local with only 7 Staffs records on iRecord. Low light levels on a shady path meant that the photos aren't as crisp as I'd have liked. Staffs Ecology Wil J. Heeney 🤙🏳️🌈🪲🪰🕷🦇 Jon Moore David Coles
Another interesting find from Footherly, the Common Stiletto Fly, Thereva nobilitata. Soldierflies RS #diptera
Something a bit weird with this Speckled Wood, it’s left hindwing seems to have got pushed in front of its forewing. BC Warwickshire Butterfly Conservation 🦋
Reasonable night’s trapping, with Dotted Clay NFG and Old Lady NFY (didn’t stick around til morning though). True Lover’s Knot keep on coming, must be up to 10 this year. Wish all the cloud present during the day wouldn’t clear as soon as it gets dark tho’. Phil Andrews
Cloudy but windy night produced 80:22; over a third were LYUs and virtually no micros. Best was NFY Brindled Green, earliest ever by 2 weeks. Also 3 Angle Shades, Old Lady and BBYU. Phil Andrews Dominic Collins BC Warwickshire
Two Copper Underwings. I think I’m safe to identify them both as A. pyramidea? Les Evans-Hill UK Moth Identification

An excellent night for the moth trap with my first ever macro migrant for the garden, a Scarce Bordered Straw! Another NFG with Orange Sallow (I did tell Dominic Collins I’d get one), and Mouse Moth NFY. Plus a trio of Centre-barred Sallow. Phil Andrews BC Warwickshire
Poecilus cupreus/versicolor seen at edge of Footherly Woods this morning. A very attractive beetle Staffs Ecology StaffsInvertGroup
Twin-spot Centurion (Sargus bipunctatus) from the moth trap the other day. I think it’s a female. Soldierflies RS
