One thing I am curious about w/ the reported July option dates for both Davey & Rizzo. Who insisted on those dates, specifically? Is that just another awful Lerner group hard line negotiation tactic, per usual? Davey sort of makes sense. Timing for Riz makes little sense.

Here's what I mean..Why would u put a clause in a contract/negotiation that forces the decision to be made BEFORE the All Star Break OR in Rizzo's case, the Draft or the Trade Deadline? Only because they sucked in June did this reality become that. What if still contending?

If the #Nats were smart ......(no comment needed) ...they would have fired Mike Rizzo last off-season OR negotiated a clause for Aug. 15, Sept 1, Sept 15, Sept 30 of this year to make decision for 2026. Not in mid-July.
