Forging Steel... Quench it for fast cooling or slowly air cool it. We air cool for better micro-grain structure + less residual stress. Load up a conveyor system with parts + let them slowly cool to ambient. Space efficient + low cost. Here is one possible layout.

My 2 cents about factory leadership. Don't fall for the messiah trap. A plant manager walks on water. IMHO that plant manager is surrounded by amazing culture + talent. Seen too many plant mgrs transfer to a broken plant, only to fail when they can't turn culture. YMMV

Every TSA queue I’ve passed through has made the lean mfg guy in me want to flip tables over Want to understand why we can’t let gov mfg things, look to the Security screening process at your local airport. If I meet a genie in a bottle, definitely burning a wish.

Interns!!! Just brought on 4 amazing young engineers/students to help UNION move fast + reindustrialize things. Honored to have young women + men trust us + join the team. We load them up day one... Immerse them in day to day engineering. No coddling. Sink or swim!

Gotta break things down before you can build them back up. In this case, we're pulling up 27 inches of reinforced concrete that used to be a printing press foundation, only to replace it with a 30 foot deep hydraulic forge press pit.
