David Hall’ research on sodic clay soils found that unincorporated gravel & sand applied to the surface as a mulch can increase crop yields by between 0.5 & 1 tonne per hectare 📈 See David present at GRDC Grains Research Updates on Thur 10 Mar bit.ly/3HdHMDH

Coolest experiment going in on some of our sodic country. Scrape a pit out in 10cm layers, put it back ameliorated with different treatments. Excited to see what happens on such a challenging soil type. Great work by wayne parker DPIRDWA and the crew

The soil management team at the DPIRDWA has had a busy & exhausting start to 2022, with 3 exciting new trials on heavy sodic soil. Collaborating closely with Esperance growers, the team has implemented innovative and unique ways to tackle some of the trickiest soil constraints.
