The story of the teenage girls who fled Ireland during the famine and their experiences on the ships as they travel to Australia. An absolutely brilliant book!

My Momma Zo by Kelly + Zoey Allen and illus. by Tara O'Brien (uclan publishing)
A very sweet picturebook celebrating a family with a trans parent, with love and support at the core of it all. The artwork is fab!
Day 9 of #ReadIrishWomenChallenge24 : a book featuring the stars
Míp by Máire Zepf and illustrated by Paddy Donnelly (@futafata)
This is such a fun picturebook about a wee robot tasked to find aliens but isn't having much luck with it - you might spot them before it does!
Day 8 of #ReadIrishWomenChallenge24 : a book you'd like to reread
The Falling in Love Montage by Ciara Smyth (Andersen Press)
I rarely reread books but this fab romcom me laugh so much I'm looking forward to returning to this story sometime soon!
I'm so looking forward to being a Book Doctor at the Children's Books Ireland Book Clinic at the Towers and Tales Festival in May, hope to see some friendly faces there! 📚
This year for #Pitlight I want to share my book Shorelines 🌊
It's a YA verse novel retelling of The Little Mermaid through the lens of a fat protagonist 🧜♀️
For fans of The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea X The Boy Lost in the Maze 💙

Day 5 of the #ReadIrishWomenChallenge24 : a favourite book from the past 6 years
Little Bang by Kelly McCaughrain (@WalkerBooksUK)
A very recent read but a quick favourite! An excellent story about teenage pregnancy in 2018 Northern Ireland, an absolute must read, highly recommend
Himself wrote an article about the EastAsiaFFIrl and reviewed the films from the weekend, well worth a read if you're interested 🎥
Also The Cats of Gokogu Shrine was a gorgeous documentary, highly recommend 🐈⬛
Day 4 of #ReadIrishWomenChallenge24 : a bookish setting
The Deepest Breath by Meg Grehan 🌈 (@LittleIslandBks)
Stevie has a crush on a girl in her class and she turns to her local library for answers in the hopes of understanding herself. A wee tribute to our fab librarians!
Day 3 of #ReadIrishWomenChallenge24 : a captivating first / last sentence
Queen of Coin and Whispers by Helen Corcoran (@OBrienPress)
Honestly this epic fantasy love story between a queen and her spymaster has beautiful writing throughout and the start and end are great examples of that
Day 2 of the #ReadIrishWomenChallenge24 : a book with an unusual family
Wise Creatures by Deirdre Sullivan (@HotKeyBooks)
Haunted by a mysterious childhood, Daisy lives with her aunt Susan and cousin Nina. This is a beautifully eery ghost(ish) with family bonds at the core of it all
