Pleased to share my latest PhD chapter; where me & Catalina Pimiento investigate the rise & fall of shark functional diversity during the Cenozoic era. Now published OA in GEB Journal! π¦

Happy to be visiting sites in Galicia, N. Spain, with PhD student Ruby George and the Benthic Ecology Team CIIMAR team. This is the southern (warmest) region in our collaborative study on the resilience of intertidal forests along a latitudinal gradient.

Having an incredible time in Portugal and Galicia visiting the most southern Fucoid resilience experiment sites and learning lots from the great team at Benthic Ecology Team CIIMAR ! π± π So grateful for funding from Taith for making this trip possible ! Heterogeneity & complexity are well-known to affect biodiversity, but what about ecosystem functioning? Our new paper shows substrate heterogeneity triggers cascades that boost foundation species, biodiversity, and ultimately multifunctionality. esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ecβ¦
