Cross party tally for Dublin Central is about to produce its first tally

Good morning. Day 2 in the RDS. Counting due to get underway in the next ten minutes. Anti-immigrant candidate Malachy Steenson was eliminated late last night. Tallymen now expect 44% of his 2195 votes to transfer to gangland figure Gerry Hutch.

Unofficial: Cross party tally has had full sight of all Steenson transfers and calculates 59% will go to Gerry Hutch. If accurate that would put Hutch on 5,029, up to 2000 votes clear of Marie Sherlock. #dubc #GeneralElection24 #Hutch

Count 7. Nearly three fifths of Malachy Steenson’s votes transfer to Gerry Hutch, leaving a gap of 2005 between him and the chasing pack.

Count 8: Gary Gannon elected. Only 26 Neasa Hourigan transfers to Gerry Hutch. 851 to Marie Sherlock. Sherlock closes the gap with Hutch from 2005 to 1,180
