The Vladimir Adreev was launched today. This one, laid down in 2019 along with the Vasily Trushin are somewhat larger than the first two Ivan Gren's, so it might be correct to call them the Vladimir Andreev-class. Destined for the Pacific Fleet if I remember correctly.

As a comment on the latest news about the launching of a new amphibious assault ship,Vladimir Andreev.A few years ago, there was such a picture comparing amphibious assault ships. The yellow color indicates the Ivan Gren Class and the red color indicates the Vladimir Andreev Class.

Since I've been logging warship visits to #Gibraltar since 1977 the arrival of HMS Astute this afternoon marks the 550th visit of a submarine to HM Naval Base Gibraltar #OPWest

Someone asked, so the question is out there: Isn't an attack against strategic bombers listed as one of the "conditions that enable nuclear weapons employment"? It might be, but I don't think this attack could trigger anything (with a caveat that it won't be argued in court) 1/

Russia just lost an unknown number of strategic aircraft that are directly tied to validity of their nuclear deterrent. We don't know if this was four or 40 aircraft. The strategic nature of the effects of this attack puts it into uncharted territory. And YES, these aircraft...

By the way, the ambition for 12 future SSNs was talked about during the Sunak government. Just like there was an ambition for 9 Astutes way back, or so I believe, which was cut to 5 then went up to seven as a 'boost' to defence. Promises easy, delivery hard for UK govts.
