At #cellbio2021 and wanting to learn about the packaging and structure of the human mitochondrial genome? Come check out my poster (P865) to find out more! American Society for Cell Biology Stirling Churchman
Wonderful to see our work on human mito-nuclear balance published! We found that the synthesis of mitochondrial- and nuclear-encoded OXPHOS subunits are remarkably balanced in the 5 cell types we studied. Thanks Antonio Barrientos Barrientos lab for the collaboration.
How is mitotic chromosome size set in the embryo? In my preprint from Rebecca Heald’s lab we took a multi-scale approach using #Xenopus. Includes a fun collaboration with Dekker Lab and beautiful illustrations from Rebecca Konte!! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
How are nuclear and mitochondrial DNA co-regulated to achieve balanced oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) subunits? We performed a CRISPR screen to identify human genes that maintain mitonuclear balance. See our preprint by Nick Kramer and Gyan Prakash (1/4) biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Happy valentines day! Maybe spend it with a loved one learning more about how mitochondria reshape themselves. The journal version of our surface morphometrics paper is now available at JCB! Michaela Medina Daniel Fuentes WisemanLab Danielle Grotjahn rupress.org/jcb/article-ab… 🧵1/7
Another new preprint! “Regulatory principles of human mitochondrial gene expression revealed by kinetic analysis of the RNA life cycle.” Let us walk through a day in the life of a mitochondrial RNA. Erik McShane led this beautiful study. (1/n)biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Very excited to see the final version of this work published! Thank you Stirling Churchman for support and mentorship and Tommy Tullius Danilo Dubocanin and Stergachis Lab (and twitterless Katja and Mary) for this fantastic collaboration!
Happy to share the final version of our work! Thank you Stirling Churchman and co-authors for this deep exploration into mitonuclear balance. 🍾 🎉
I'm thrilled to see the cover of NatureStructMolBiol this month! My sibling Leidy Churchman made this special painting to illustrate our latest work on the packaging of mitochondrial DNA. Both works are nicely described in the "Musings on art and science" editorial nature.com/articles/s4159…
