Day 2-3 American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) #COBRA meeting could not be any better! Nabia presented her @NIGMS funded talk on exploring metabolic adaptations of human pathogens, while Abraham, Masoud & Niaz presented their posters on @NIGMS & U.S. National Science Foundation funded work! University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering

Are you American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) #AnnualMeeting at San Diego? Check our @NIGMS & U.S. National Science Foundation funded work on pathogenic & non-model microbes, plants, diseases & white blood cells University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering SSbioUNL lab. Join us tonight at our reception & learn more about us & our faculty opening.

Day 1 American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) #AnnualMeeting in pictures: Sunayana & Nabia gave their talk & Edward (our talented undergrad student) presented his poster thanks to funding support by @NIGMS, U.S. National Science Foundation & University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering UNL Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering.

In Day 2 American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) #AnnualMeeting, Sunayana, Mark, and Sabya presented their work on macrophage, non-model and lignin-degrading soil microbe & automated & predictive metabolic model development, thanks to the funding support by @NIGMS, U.S. National Science Foundation & University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering.

On Carnegie Mellon Chemical Engineering Ignacio E. Grossman's 75th birthday, his academic tree contains 939 academic descendants, 164 faculty members, and spans six generations! Although one of my own academic PhD University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering is missing, this is fascinating, thanks to Can Li!

Day 3-4: American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) #AnnualMeeting snippets: University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering SSbioUNL’s Nabia, Abraham & Mark presented their @NIGMS & U.S. National Science Foundation funded work on a human pathogen, regularized flux balance analysis & role of a mobilization protein on plasmid stability.

So long American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) #AnnualMeeting! This time I took advantage of staying in Little Italy, eating well, going for runs in the morning & meeting old friends! Like always our University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering SSbioUNL lab folks rock! See you all next year!

Funded by @NIGMS, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering UNL Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering’s Sunayana Malla defended her #MS thesis on dissecting the metabolic plasticity of alveolar #macrophages & became the 4th MS (& 10th overall) member of our SSBio Lab Alumni Club. Congrats Sunayana!

#PhD #7 from our SSBio Lab! Funded by Dept. of Agriculture pre-doctoral fellowship & Nebraska Corn Board, University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s DiannaMorris Dianna Morris defended her thesis on the successes and challenges of developing three non-model bacteria as bioproduction chassis. Well done, Dianna!

Excited to talk about the role of #ML, #AI, Metabolic #Model & Omics Data Analysis in Biopharma IIT Delhi CBT course series, thanks to the partial funding by ACS BIOT! The discussion with the students on mentoring will be the cherry on top! University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering

#PhD #6 & #7 in the bag! Congrats University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering SSbioUNL’s Niaz Chowdhury & Dianna Morris on their graduation, thanks to funding support from U.S. National Science Foundation & Dept. of Agriculture! Their exemplary professionalism & perseverance will be missed! Congrats folks!

Thanks to Satya, the fun part (last 3 days) of my India trip was awesome! We made a pact in grad school to visit each other’s hometown. Finally, made good to my promise, visited Bhubaneswar & Puri, met his family, and had great food. No words on the hospitality! Incredible!ndia

Thanks to National Academies, I was selected to participate at the 2nd #LACconnections symposium UTEC - U. de Ingeniería & Tecnología! Really excited to connect with the colleagues from Americas, present our U.S. National Science Foundation & NIH funded work & seek to establish potential collaborations! University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering

Back from #CyanobacteriaWorkshop15! Honored to share our U.S. National Science Foundation-funded melanin work. Big congrats to undergrad Quin Barton for winning 🥉in the poster competition—only undergrad among grads/postdocs! 👏 Huge thanks to mentor lichen-thrope 🙌 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Nebraska Engineering Nebraska Today
