Short thread on the dangers of the fire at Zaporizhzhya NPP. As of 8am this morning, according to Ukraine's regulator, three of six reactors were connected to the grid; the other three were offline. However, ALL the units will need cooling if they have any fuel inside. (1/n)

Fantastic panel! Some key takeaways: 1. Bridge gap b/w least cost models and real world, as we increasingly rely on them for policy 2. Best solution could be an inferior one in terms of cost, but achieve better real world solutions 3. Spatial resolution of analysis is imp

Some promising items in the UK's new Energy Security Strategy, including support for #nuclear, but where is the analysis to support or explain these decisions? I was expecting something at least at the same level as the Net Zero Strategy or department decarbonization plans.

Folks. We're going to need nuclear power (fission or even fusion) to decarbonize the global economy. Nations like US, Canada, Australia, China etc blessed with land can drive to net-zero with renewables only IF they so choose. But a Net-zero India? South Korea? Japan? Indonesia?

The Sustainable Engineering Initiative NYU Tandon has multiple postdoc openings on the topic of decarbonizing chemical manufacturing, spanning computational and experimental topics. Miguel Modestino and I are looking to hire researchers across three projects -a thread:
