There's a REASON! No, literally, there's a REASON (Radar for Europa Assessment and Sounding: Ocean to Near-surface)! On board NASA Europa Clipper, this ice-penetrating radar can bounce waves off any liquid water under the surface, creating a kind of CT scan of Europa’s ice shell.

U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón got to do something very special on Monday. She watched as a spacecraft carrying her poem, "In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa," lifted off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the first step in a 1.8-billion mile voyage to Jupiter’s moon. 🧵

We're thrilled that Bob Pappalardo - find me on Bluesky will be giving a Keck Institute for Space Studies guest lecture on the science of the NASA Europa Clipper mission! 📅Dec 4th from 4:30pm 🌏Ramo Auditorium, Caltech 📥Register here: forms.office.com/r/LVdnnm7n3X Full details on the KISS website: kiss.caltech.edu/lectures/2024_…

It's an honor to have my piece, delivered to the NASA Europa Clipper team on the eve before launch, in Washington Post Opinions. It's inspired in part by my late mom, who wrote poetry all her life, and my late brother, who passed away too soon to see this remarkable mission launch toward Europa.

I'll be a guest on All Space Considered at the Griffith Observatory this Thursday, discussing the NASA Europa Clipper mission. Details are here: <instagram.com/griffithobserv…>. Come on out, or stream at <youtube.com/watch?v=8wGRz5…> !

The next in the series of Space Science Reviews papers summarizing the NASA Europa Clipper mission is published! Read about the incredible Europa Imaging System’s dual cameras, with free access to the article: The Europa Imaging System (EIS) Investigation. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Folks - I'd like to let you know the NASA Europa Clipper SSR papers are now all published & where to find them, but unfortunately, X-Twitter has become a cesspool and is owned by a neo-Nazi, so I will no longer be posting here. Please come find me on #Bluesky instead. Thanks, all.
