The King is wearing Naval Uniform No. 1 dress, with no medals or decorations, as His Majesty’s grandfather King George VI wore on the balcony at Buckingham Palace Balcony on VE-Day 1945. The Prince of Wales is wearing RAF No. 1 Uniform.

A Day to remember as The King and Queen, Prince and Princess of Wales and family watch the VE 80 Flypast from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Last week, The Queen sat down with veteran Douglas Cracknell at Clarence House ahead of #VEDay80 commemorations. Douglas was awarded the Legion d’Honneur for his service during the Second World War, when he served as a rifleman in the 5th Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry.

Missed the main event as returning from a wedding weekend. Caught the end. SO many young people. So many families with children. So moving to see the veterans, bent over, in wheelchairs but making the effort. Cheers to the drunk fusiliers having a ball! Britain is good, thanks🇬🇧
