A HUGE thank you to all of the children and parents who donated cakes for our stall this afternoon. Thanks to all those who bought a bun or two, we were able to raise just over £200 for British Red Cross which makes Year 5’s Big Clean Up a brilliant success ✅

We are absolutely thrilled with our children’s art and English outcomes from last half term! Our Year 5s have absolutely loved reading onjali rauf’s incredible debut. Their short stories retold an extract from the book and their art work was based around Hokusai’s Great Wave 🌊

5GJ have had a brilliant morning taking part in a very exciting Architecture workshop linked to our core text, The Boy in the Tower. The children were challenged to build the tallest tower that they could out of just dowel rods and elastic bands. What amazing structures!

We have loved our core text, The Explorer, this half term! One of our writing outcomes linked to the book was a setting description of the tropical rainforest. In Art, we have been working on collaging techniques whilst working towards our tropical flower final pieces. 🌺🌴

Last half term, as part of their DT project, Year 5 designed and created their very own, sustainable bag for life. They used Batik, tie die and sewing techniques to create these amazing final pieces!

We have had a BRILLIANT first day at Weardale! The children have settled in so well and loved their activities this afternoon. We have just enjoyed our pasta bake for tea and a visit to the tuck shop!

Tonight we have been doing the Nightline course and a scavenger hunt. We finished our evening with hot chocolate and reflections on the day in the common room!

Group 2 have had a fabulous day: we have swung between the trees, climbed Jacob’s ladder and even did some crate stacking! Miss Walker was very impressed by the resilience shown 💪🏻

Year 5 had a great day celebrating European Day of Languages! We found out about which languages our classmates speak at home and which languages children are learning! #WeAreRoundhay #EDL2022 #RoundhayLanguages

Year 5 had an incredible morning in the planetarium and learnt SO many facts about the solar system! We were so proud of the whole year group for their Recognisably Roundhay behaviour and their interesting, thoughtful questions! ☄️🪐🚀

This week, we have absolutely loved hearing from the children about why they should be a Member of Parliament for their class. We all thoroughly enjoyed listening to the presentations, posters and videos which they had prepared. Well done to all those who took part!
