Believe it or not, I had an old school friend on today’s marches in London. He sent me some photos from the crowd. We went to middle school together and grew up on the same Eastern District council estate in Northampton. I asked him why he was there. He gave me two answers:

I do wish people would stop generalising about 'what schools do;, or 'most schools', or the 'majority of schools'. There are more than 20,000 state schools in England. You cannot - repeat cannot - know what more than a small percentage of them do.

Just goes to show that putting 'Christ is King' on your bio doesn't mean that you have any kind of decency...and no it's really not a 'common chant' - absolutely no way working class that I knew when I worked in Silvertown would have chanted that.

It would be good if Katharine Birbalsingh would desist from this kind of sweeping generalisation - "Schools fail daily in teaching basic morality and universal humanity" as it feeds the media view of 'schools are terrible'. And it would be good if other educators called her out on it.
