Thanks to literary magazine The Stinging Fly, two Bristol Translates attendees based on the island of Ireland have benefited from a bursary for participation in any of our workshops. Congratulations to bursary-holders, and thank you to The Stinging Fly!

such a rich lecture from Maboula Soumahoro in her keynote for #bristoltranslates - a fabulous example of an academic who is determined not to use jargon to discuss complex ideas

Thank you to Bristol Translates for having me back to host today's theatre translation workshop. Great discoveries including vocal warm-ups in Georgian, the need for commas in Spanish, and which foods in Arabic give you the ick. #xl8

Coming out of my X-shell to say that I'm having the best time at Bristol Translates, particularly in the brilliant EN-ES workshops. As a very early career translator, this week is solidifying my belief that giving literary translation a proper go would make me a very happy person.

Bristol Translates is even better in year 2. Little victories right and left every day. Super motivating. Top notch group of folks I'm in with this year. I'm thinking "Ooh that's good" minute by minute. Happy dance.

Some great free talks happening next week during BCLT Summer School week (Translators as Labour Organisers, anyone?). I’ll be tuning in between leading the German strand of workshops.
