At Beal heard a vaguely familiar wader trilling. Suspected Pec Sand but couldn't find anything and thought chance had passed. But 10 mins later heard it again and there it was flying around above me!

This October has felt like hard work with scant reward, which made this White-winged Scoter at Stag Rocks all the better. Thanks to our Scottish friends for paving the road for these.

Richard's Pipit in dunes between Beal and Goswick this pm. That's 3 in 5 years along this little stretch of dunes, despite mile upon mile of suitable adjacent habitat. Something about it they like? Returning bird (haven't tried to age this bird)?

Water Pipit at Stag Rocks this am. Despite AlstrΓΆm Pipits & Wagtails stating "only very rarely found along seashores" the best and pretty much only habitat to see this species here is the seashore!

Today was a Little Auk day - 922 past Annstead Point. As ever during big movements there was some craziness including one perched on a house overlooking Seahouses Harbour.

Black Scoter off Goswick at lunchtime. Despite no sightings in area since October 2023, I'm assuming it's the returning bird. Longevity of scoters seems to be about 15-20 years and bird must be at least 16 years old.

Easier to find Green-winged Teal than Smew these days. A Sparrowhawk flushed this drake out of the typha on Holy Island Lough for five minutes at lunchtime.

1500 Barnacle Geese left out to sea over Budle Point this morning. Failed to add any this evening, but did stumble into a bonny Red-throated Pipit!

Scanning the Ringed Plover from Holy Island causeway when up popped this American Golden Plover right in front of me! And the fantastic Dotterel still in field just behind.
