The relief 😅 this boy felt today during our visit from Kentucky Science Center when I told him he could write his observations in his L1 & the way his engagement immediately increased ⬆️ makes me so happy 🥰 It’s important for T’s to know when to allow Ss to use L1 for learning! #JCPSML

What a way to start the morning! In my weekly student-selected home language goal class (that meets every Thursday morning), the stars aligned and I got 4 Copenhagen International School teachers to volunteer their time to give feedback on their projects IN the students’ language. Thanks Joy Larsson!

We did poems using a poet’s eye today in G2. One student did one of her poems in Dutch. And then two other students wrote poems in their home languages. Being multilingual is contagious! ❤️🌍❤️

Today was my G2 team’s open house. It was a final product one where students presented their art & poetry to their parents. Ss shared work in their home languages & in English. During the open house many parents wrote a poem together in their home language. So powerful!

I don’t like to do recess duty, but today is not so bad. :)

I got to see this aurora show really close to my school this past Friday in Copenhagen. It was an amazing show!

Have any of you tried learning a language with Ling? I used it to learn Serbian. Duolingo still doesn't even have Serbo-Croatian! Ling does!

Y9 students came to visit us this morning! They introduced new languages to Y2/4/5/6, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being taught by older students. There was a lot of energy around all the Languages classrooms -thank you Y9 & thank you Secondary Languages | Alice Smith School! #sparkcuriosity

End of the year reflections from the small group I met with once a week. This group made multiple goals for their home language/s and then worked on them in this class throughout the year. This group was very motivated and I think it was very impactful on their identities!
