Fallen trees demolished some of our cars, landslides obliterated the two roads leading to our retreat space, and flood-saturated earth threatened more landslides. There was no way to walk or drive down or up the mountain. 2 of 🧵

For days, we were trapped without electricity, running water, communication, phone reception, Wi-Fi, etc. We had flashlights, water melted from ice cubes, and food. We were exhausted and dirty. we were trapped and afraid of the unknown. 3 of 🧵

But we survived. Last Sunday, the National Guard airlifted us from the mountain. Everyone who drove had to abandon our cars, and we all abandoned our luggage. We could each only bring one “go bag” onto the chopper. 4 of 🧵
