This Firefox AI summaries thing is so annoying. I don't need link previews on a desktop browser, and even if I do, I certainly don't want a goddam AI summary of it. Time to set browser.ml.linkPreview.enabled & browser.ml.enable to false in about:config.

#Asteroid 2024 YR4 has a ~4 % chance of hitting the Moon on Dec 22 2032. A strike could spike micrometeoroid flux in low Earth orbit ~1000×, endangering satellites—so researchers even study nuclear disruption. arxiv.org/pdf/2509.12351 My sim: 2000 clones; 72 hit.

Earth's magnetic field is changing, with its weak spot (the South Atlantic Anomaly) growing significantly over the past decade. No, it's not doomsday, but it does affect the radiation doses hitting satellite that pass through that region. esa.int/Applications/O…

People are slowly realizing that Anduril drones suck. The developers are arrogant assholes who do not accept feedback and criticism. The drones are years behind the times and already obsolete. They cannot operate in EW saturated environments. They are shit reuters.com/business/aeros…

This clip is torturous. Zack is explaining to them how a fiat currency actually works, while Rory interrupts him over and over with numbers that don't actually change the underlying point about the economy's function and Campbell goes BUT THE MARKET, THE MARKET. Pathetic.

Objects in Moon-orbit-crossing trajectories tend to be chaotic; the abandoned Chandrayaan-3 propulsion module, left in a 125000 x 305000 km orbit in 2024, had a bit of a tussle with the Moon in November and has now been found in a 365000 x 983000 km x 22 deg orbit

Great list! As I typically judge books by their covers, the 4 that stood out (and the ones I'll probably get) are: * Two Deaths of Lillian Carmichael by Paulette Kennedy * Decomposition Book by Sara van Os * Such a Lucky Girl by Wendy Heard * Plastic, Prism, Void by Violet Allen

Aravalli Geology. Besides folded sedimentary rocks, Aravalli is intruded by granite magma. How can you spot these different rock types from a satellite image? A short tutorial with an e.g. of the contact between Sirohi fold belt & Erinpura Granite. suvratk.blogspot.com/2023/12/geolog…

an artillery shell piercing through the air leaves a vacuum behind it. This creates base drag due to air rushing back and reduces range. Base bleed shells have a "gas generator", it replaces the vacuum with gas, this is chaotic and reduces accuracy but increase range by 20-30%.
