Thumbs Down on Cajun Fried Turkey! My wife and I tried the experiment of Cajun fried turkey for Thanksgiving. Here's my reaction. mylot.com/post/3485100/t… #thanksgiving #dinner #turkey

Jesus said we must love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves. But our inherent selfishness causes us to unconsciously favor ourselves. letterpile.com/religion/How-t…

Our culture seems more unhinged every day. But Christians need not fear. Instead we are mentally strong and prepared: “Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.” (1 Peter 1:13 NIV)

To be holy is to be set apart from the world and unto God. “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy." (1 Peter 1:15-16 NIV). In all I do I am motivated not by the world’s outlook and values, but by God’s.

Yesterday I got some disturbing news that left me feeling a bit anxious and depressed. But then I remembered: “Rejoice in the Lord always…Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God (Phil 4:4,6).

Kudos to James Bradberry of the Philadelphia Eagles, who rather than whine about the penalty called on him in the Super Bowl, affirms it was the right call. Says he was raised to take responsibility. How refreshing!

"God willed to make known…among the Gentiles…Christ in you the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning & teaching” Col 1:27-28 Then, as now, the culture was hostile to the gospel. But God wills that they hear the word of hope in Christ. So Paul warned & taught them, as must we.

"Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit… according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ." Col 2:8 The world demands we bow the knee to its moral values; Christians must stand on God’s principles despite the cost.

"You were raised with Christ…For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." Col 3:1, 3 Great news! The old me, with all his limitations, shortcomings, failures and sins, is dead. I have been raised with Christ, and my life is secure in Him.

My wife told me she heard a major movie producer say he’s a Christian but also an artist so, expect filthy language, etc, in his films. “You yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth”. Col 3:8 Except in a film? No!

For me when I get frustrated with people: “Put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do” Col 3:12-13

Jane Austen wrote Mr. Collins as a comic buffoon with few redeeming qualities. But there's actually a lot more to him than that! owlcation.com/humanities/in-…
