After a long journey, it is finally there: Male #malaria parasites (#Plasmodium) need a highly divergent Arp2/3 complex to take their genome along when they want to infect a #mosquito. Have a look at the preprint here: biorxiv.org/content/10.110… #Arp23 #actin #mitosis

In this article, a repertoire of apical polar ring proteins was studied and assigned to the different APR layers. Among them, APR2 contributed to parasite's motility and invasion and its depletion caused destabilisation of the APR middle layer and F-actin leakage to the cytosol.

Mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell, producing essential energy for life 🏭⚙️. To synthesize the proteins for this process, mitochondria have mitoribosomes. But, how do the mitoribosomes from Alveolates assemble? 🧵 nature.com/articles/s4146…

Remember learning that #ribosomes are made of 1 large subunit RNA + 1 small subunit RNA? Well, some cells defy this rule, and the most extreme case is #Toxoplasma which makes its mitoribosome from >50 RNA pieces! Wanna know how? Read the next comments.
