Just struck me when I read that Senegal celebrated the 64th anniversary of its independence. Thinking of ’s 220th anniversary.

2 thoughts :1/the 🌍 shock when hearing about a Black republic being formed, & the colonial rage; 2/Colonialism is recent, not ‘ancient’ history.
