Do men and women respond equally to resistance exercise? What about fiber type, does it play a role in the training adaptations? Check out our latest preprint where together with Lukas Moesgaard, atul deshmukh and Morten Hostrup we use proteomics to answer these questions!

We used our single-fiber transcriptomics workflow to profile how individual human muscle fibers respond to exercise. Our results are out now in AJP-Cell Physiology, with thanks to TeamDerave, FWO and UGent Geneeskunde & Gezondheidswetenschappen (1/5) journals.physiology.org/doi/epdf/10.11…

In this collaborative effort with Søren Jessen atul deshmukh et al, we show that beta2-agonist (asthma) inhaler💊 mimics aspects of strength training🏋️‍♀️: hypertrophy & ribosomal proteins⬆️. This supports the restrictions for beta2-agonists in sports. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Very proud to share this new exciting avenue for single fiber research! This collaborative work allowed us to profile both the overall proteome and protein function within the same fiber. Congrats to everyone involved!
