The sunshine brought the Shieldbugs out today. I picked a few up as I walked across the garden. Six species, Hairy, Green, Brassica, Bishop's Mitre, Forget-me-Not and Scarab. Nice to see a size comparison. 🙂

Some very stylish flies in Peru, such as this yellow-headed stratiomyid.

Dyroderes umbraculatus from Lefkada, very numerous on Galium aparine and still active during rainstorms.

Quite a few Mottled Shieldbugs out today on Bramble mainly.

Loads of ground beetles poking their heads up through the low vegetation and enjoying yesterday's sun. I'm thinking Poecilus cupreus for this one.

オキナワコケヒシバッタ。沢沿いの斜面で見つかりました。アマミ（2枚目）とは正中線の出っ張り具合が異なります。どちらも大変美しいヒシバッタです。

Nice to finally see a couple of Slender Groundhoppers on Wednesday, plus a couple of 1st instar wiglets (Common Earwig nymphs). Presumably precocious escapes from a nest - & probably out & about too soon for their own good tbh.

There was a lot of jumping up and down and shouting with glee today when out bug hunting at Saltwells NR with Ranger yelloowec as suddenly we chanced upon perhaps the most glorious beetle I've ever seen. Elaphrus cupreus one of the 'Peacock' Beetles. Just glistens in the light.

A pretty larva from Hawthorn, which I think might be the Figure of Eight - Diloba caeruleocephala.

Lifted a plank of wood this afternoon, and discovered lots of Ant Woodlice - Platyarthrus hoffmannseggii! Only ever seen one once before!

Due to the disruption caused we've asked Cadent to replace the temporary lights on Roman Rd roundabout, Shrewsbury, with a temporary one-way closure on Longden Rd.

Access to Longden Road is currently via Longden Coleham.

1st Brassica Shieldbug (Eurydema oleracea) of the year seen in the garden yesterday. Also Green & Box Shieldbugs and Dock Bugs around.
