I loved doing this event, and now it's online for you to watch back!

My time as Chair of Society of Authors comes to an end today. It has been an honour, and I'm very proud of the progress the SoA has made: greater diversity and accessibility; online events; new prizes; the millions given out by the Contingency Fund; the steady increase in members.

Jason accepted the prize by reading from his book, and by speaking against the war in Gaza, which has preoccupied him and many of us over these last few months.

Was brilliant to be at this event last night, especially to hear Jason Allen-Paisant read a poem about his mother's voice, which made me quite emotional. Massive congrats to him, and also to all the shortlisted poets.
