If you have ever been interested in carrying out 3D analysis of tooth shape (dental topographic analysis), but can't afford software that costs thousands of pounds, don't worry - we have developed a new, entirely free pipeline that performs just as well as commercial software!

conspiracy theory: because of issues, World Rugby need to blame head clashes on players, so any head clash, even accidental, has to be found to be foul play. Alt is to accept that head clashes are inevitable under normal play, with legal implications

Did a tiny, 70-90g, marsupial - living in Aus 15 million years ago - love eating snails?! 🐌

The new malleodectid is described by Robin Beck et al. in Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology.

They show it had premolars specialized for hard food🦷

My probably nerdiest paper yet with a great team, using a bunch of methods to show that GMM-based marsupial basicranial shape does not live up to its reputation of being more phylogenetically informative than the rest of the skull Michael S. Y. Lee (biologist), Thomas Guillerme, Robin Beck

This is cool - I remember my undergrad lectures (from Jenny Clack herself), with Crassigyrinus reconstructed as having a very tall skull. Interesting to see the much more conventional profile reconstructed here!

Our paper led by Jonathan Cramb on a new tiny (less than 10g!) fossil from the Pleistocene of Queensland. It has been named Urrayira, which appropriately means 'small tooth' in Darumbal (First Nations language of the area where it was found): tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…
