CCL will be producing several podcast episodes on police powers. Written by community/academic lawyers and produced with 2SER Radio, the episodes will cover what powers police have to search, seize, detain and arrest.
We're crowdfunding the project here-

Despite the rain on Saturday, NSWCCL Committee member, Lydia Shelly (pictured), spoke at Sydney's No right to discriminate: Religious Discrimination Bill protest rally.

The government is urging us not to use aircon and major appliances. But, since we make up less than 1.3% of demand my household is powerless to stop grid overload. Sorry that's , deal with it.

our soccer ref didn’t show up so one of the moms on our team had her 9 year old son ref for us (he had a whistle) and a completely adult woman on the other team argued with one of his calls and he yellow carded her in front of everyone and she had to sit in her car to calm down

Here's the most excellent book I referenced on RN Breakfast this morning, along with its magnificent opening. How to Avoid People (pub 1963)

It took 5 days for a traveler departing London to reach the East Coast of the United States in 1914. Today, it takes half a day. humanprogress.org/article.php?p=…

Corbyn claimed that he could rebuild Labour by moving far to the left. He only succeeded in decimating his party and losing the working-class to the Tories.

Unless Democrats learn the lesson of the UK election, they will lose in 2020.

Can this be right ?

If a Democrat is President, lying about a blow-job is grounds for impeachment

If a Republican is President, betraying his country's defence policy again Russia...isn't

What am I missing here ?

So I'm guessing Scott Morrison and his local Liberal colleagues won't be bothering to comply with Sydney's water restrictions? After all, they contribute only a tiny fraction to consumption, so what's the point in doing anything?

So you don’t want to be discriminated against because of your religion but you do want to discriminate against others because of their beliefs.
And you don’t see the hypocrisy in that?

Today is the ten-year anniversary of the Liberal party meeting in which one man's absolutely extraordinary political betrayal diverted the nation down a road of division, climate warfare and leadership roundabouts. My bit on it here: abc.net.au/news/2019-11-2….

The Greens decided Labor’s CPRS was imperfect and blocked it. Labor was going well at the time. If the CPRS has been legislated, Labor would have won well in 2010 & the carbon price would have been hard to remove after 6 years. Greens show no remorse. Just piously lecture Labor.

I find it impossible to imagine how any well-meaning, rational believer in democracy could defend FPTP in Britain. Yet a majority voted for it in 2011. Why? It is surpassed in wanton unfairness only by the US Electoral College “winner take all” system.

What kind of a state must Ohio be, if its congress is capable of passing a law like this? Oh but of course, Ohio was one of the states that “elected' Trump in the ludicrously undemocratic Electoral College.
