BREAKING 🚨: Tax-avoiding billionaire energy boss and Man Utd owner Jim Ratcliffe joins Trump, Farage etc. in calling for UK to ‘drill baby drill’. It’s unsurprising really. Just another billionaire putting private interest ahead of the public 🤷‍♂️

Serious risk that #TrumpTariffs could inflame global South debt crisis. 54 countries are already facing the worst debt crisis in history. Poorer countries with high tariffs and high external debt levels will be most at risk. This combination will cost lives.

If it matters at all, there is basically zero evidence people are switching to Reform - especially from Labour - in large numbers because of their opposition to the shift to renewables/away from fossil fuels. It's more or less a one issue pressure group right now.

People around the world are united in wanting action to tackle climate breakdown - this shouldn't be controversial theguardian.com/environment/20…

Lots of claims flying around this week (eg Nigel Farage who thinks we can be "self-sufficient" in gas) that the UK can drill its way to energy security. Here's why that's a fantasy, as I explained to Reform's Richard Tice on LBC earlier:

Among his other interesting comments today, President Trump has alleged that there's a century worth of oil & gas drilling left in the North Sea that the UK should incentivise in order to get energy costs down. Let's take a closer look at the veracity of that idea, shall we? /1

Health professionals, renters, and campaigners are calling on the Government to tackle 'energy poverty'. They are calling for a £13.2 billion investment in insulation ahead of the June Spending Review. @swainitv reports.

I'm very pleased to see Faiza Shaheen appointed as the head of Tax Justice UK. Faiza brings amazing experience as a political campaigner, inequality researcher and organisational leader. Exciting times!

It is absolutely indefensible that profits from Scotland’s oil and gas reserves could flow to a company linked to human rights violations in Palestine. We must continue to oppose Rosebank for both climate & human rights reasons. scotsman.com/news/opinion/w…
