General rule: never tease a story. At worst, it can lead to disaster. It can overhype a decent story to backlash. Huge stories never need it. And people tend to miss jokes over it. There’s no win in it.

Put the story out and promo it after. It’s just better.

Six months ago today, a series of reputable news outlets published reports that Hamas militants had beheaded babies at the Kfar Aza kibbutz on Oct. 7 in southern Israel. The The Wall Street Journal was not one of them.
