Grandpa was a protest artist, from the 1920s through to his death. His name was Carl Hoeckner. For what it's worth, he was a contemporary and friend of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo's. Here's a lithograph, which hung in our little apartment, called "The Sea of the Discarded."
