An early morning writing spot for me a week ago: the Danube in Budapest. Had a wonderful anniversary trip with my wife.

From our trip last week, Vienna. I'd love to write with the varied details and vitality with which Brueghel painted.

My wife is not afraid to tell me when something in my writing does not work. She read three new chapters just now, written in a woman's POV. She said the woman is not only true but "the best female character you've written." I am happy. I am very happy.

Celebrated 10's birthday at the drive-in last night. Would recommend. (And while in my ideal world it would have been Oppenheimer, Legally Blonde worked delightfully as a double feature.)

Have a new story out today. It wasn’t an easy story to write, and it probably isn’t an easy story to read, but it’s important to me. One of those pieces that rattled around in me for years. Glad to turn it into something more than an echo. TW: suicide, violence
