There are three main ingredients in menstrual blood: blood (obviously), cells from the lining of the uterus (which is shed during menstruation), and the ordinary vaginal and cervical secretions you produce throughout the cycle (discharge).

Because of this, it's more accurate to call it "menstrual fluid" rather than blood.
