This map by KFF also provides some important context about the states with the lowest life expectancy: they are the ones that haven’t expanded Medicaid under the ACA. 5/

His name is #RalphYarl and I’m sick and tired of this feeling…my heart completely broke when I learned this precious 16-year-old, who accidentally rang the door of the wrong address in an attempt to pick up his siblings, was shot in the head… (1/3)

Thanks to 5 years in the lab I’ve acquired several eccentric but highly adaptive behaviors, like uncapping toothpaste single-handedly and opening tampons like pipettes

This is my dear friend, Nakita. Nakita and I were medical school classmates and both interns in New York City. Nakita tragically took her own life on May 26. She is such a beautiful soul. She was so fun to be around. She was intelligent, charismatic, and confident. (1/x)

Just did my first inpatient medicine service in 3 months (have been doing off-service rotations and electives). Wow. The medicine interns are so competent and independent at this point. Can I go home

Just your reminder to please stop saying AIDS when consulting ID as it is traumatizing to patients, advanced HIV is much better. Also please never say the CD4 is undetectable, we reserve that term for viral load only, thanks! #HIVTwitter #IDTwitter

I have certified and submitted and officially applied for ID fellowship!! 😍 Feels good to not have to mull over ERAS like a manuscript on its 90th revision anymore

The default order set for IV Dilaudid is 0.1-0.4 mg. The vials are 0.5 mg. This means **every single time** we give it, TWO nurses have to step aside to draw it up & waste it together. Every. Time. All. Shift. Long. Providers: please ask & learn the volumes in the vials!

Very excited to release a new pre-print, “A low-activity cortical network selectively encodes syntax”! We use ECoG and a controlled sentence production experiment to shed new light on syntax in the brain. 🧵[1/12] biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…

Ironically discovered at our orientation happy hour today that between us handful of INFECTIOUS DISEASES fellows, we have had as pets (in addition to the usual cats and dogs): birds, shrimp, praying mantises, mice, rats, 27 snakes

According to MKSAP, accommodating a “perceived discriminatory” request by a patient may be appropriate, because, for example, a war veteran may be triggered by a certain race. How am I supposed to take this seriously. Is studying for boards actually making me dumber
