Election results according to NHK as of 1:15 AM. Ruling parties 8 shy of the 50 seat threshold with 15 seats remaining to be called. Not entirely a blowout defeat, though the 50 seat threshold was already deemed a low target to aim for in this election.

The LDP lost in all 4 races in Osaka, the first time since 1998 that the party failed to secure a seat in the prefecture. Osaka branch chief and UH lawmaker Aoyama Shigeharu indicated his intent to resign as chief. He was not up for re-election. nikkei.com/article/DGXZQO…
