ChatGPT for Mac is a fully native macOS app. Not Electron. Not even Catalyst. This was a heroic effort by the team, and the result looks beautiful, if I may say so myself.

And now I can finally say: we’re hiring for amazing macOS and Windows engineers! 🧑‍💻👩‍💻 My DMs are open.

A heart so hot it pumps molten lead...

Let's dive into lead cooled fast reactors!

Not literally, but let's find out what makes them tick, what challenges remain, and why the unreal prospect of cooling reactor cores with hot lead could be a Very Good Idea.

A thread.

A simple algorithm to compute the square root of an integer, byte by byte

A reader asked me for some help in computing (1 - sqrt(0.5)) to an arbitrary precision, from scratch. A simpler but equivalent problem is to compute the square root of an integer (e.g., 2). There are many

π is the minimal value of Pi and a circle isn't always round
What does that even mean?

You can define a circle as the set of points of equal distance from a central point. But depending on how you measure this distance the shape of this set can be very different

We just landed initial support of generics in Static Hermes, via monomorphization (like Rust/C++). A separate copy of a function or type is generated for each set of distinct type arguments, leading to highly efficient code. Let's dive into how this works in . 🧵

This is Californium. A very dense, artificial transuranic element, Californium is created in high flux nuclear reactors and particle accelerators.

One of it's isotopes, Californium 252, has a unique use.

It can kick start a nuclear reactor.

Wow, wasted hours today to discover a bug in Apple clang version 14.0.3. In my experience, whenever I think there is a compiler bug, it almost never is, but this seems like a real one.

In Godbold I was only able to reproduce it in Clang 4.0.1 (Godbold doesn't have the Apple

In this post, I will give arguments to explain why the Schrodinger equation has the form that it has. I will try to give enough mathematical details so that the reader can understand the argument easily. 1/29

If you want to define a continuous addition you get the Riemann integral

This is what happens if you want to define a continuous *product*

One of the weirdest and most satisfying integrals you've ever seen and why it's important for physics
