When the woman at the well had her sins exposed by Jesus, I don’t think she felt shamed! When we are completely loved, having our sins exposed is liberating, not shame-producing! One way to tell how much we know the love of Jesus is how safe we feel even when we are exposed!

With whom will you compare Jesus? Has anyone in history: Taught more brilliantly? Loved more deeply? Suffered more profoundly? Died more sacrificially? Risen more triumphantly? Ascended more gloriously? Saved more powerfully? Satisfied more thoroughly? No one is like Jesus!

The Pharisees dragged a woman caught in adultery before Jesus “in order to test him” (Jn. 8:6). Many in the church today are doing something similar with their pastors, “testing them” to see if they will be tough enough on sinners! They ID more with the Pharisees than with Jesus!

Some conservative evangelicals expend enormous effort to defend the idea of a "young" earth. Yet most evangelical biblical commentators don't think the Bible itself actually teaches that.

The Bible says that Jesus continually prays for the church. What does he pray? Probably what he prayed on the night he was betrayed. He prayed: That we would be PROTECTED from the evil one. That we would be SANCTIFIED That we would ONE This is how we should pray for the church!

A Spirit-led challenge! So thankful for leaders like you who listen to God and challenge the church to be the body of Christ in the world!

Without love every good thing becomes corrupted. Without love holiness becomes self-righteousness. Without love truth becomes rigid orthodoxy. Without love mission becomes conquest. Without love the pursuit of justice becomes tyranny. Without love unity becomes uniformity.

Meditating on Pontius Pilate and his similarity to our politicians. -He knew the charges against Jesus were false. -He tried to take half-measures to satisfy religious leaders. -He denied knowing what truth meant. -He capitulated when they claimed he was no friend of Caesar!

At the trial of Jesus, the people shouted “we have no king but Caesar”! This is a binary choice! We either bow before Jesus as King, or we reject him and surrender ourselves to a political tyrant!
