Over 2700 fully qualified doctors were rejected for post-graduate training in radiology last year. This is doctor replacement by PAs. It is of course not at all surprising coming out of St George's NHS FT, but that makes it no more safe for patients or less galling for doctors.

Follow and support the same reps (plus some new faces) who have transformed what it means to be a doctors’ union over the past two years.

"DV outwardly said they backed the motion but internally told people to abstain" - I'm afraid this just isn't true. The motion was controversial. It was debated, opinions shared and people were restricted from telling others how to vote.

Doctors have made huge personal sacrifices to study for the MSRA to reapply for specialty training during this recruitment round. It is unacceptable to move the goalposts at the last minute and exclude doctors from resitting the MSRA. NHS England Workforce, Training and Education 1/2

This decision must be immediately reversed and all applicants should be permitted to resit. The system is completely broken and treats doctors with no respect. NHS England Workforce, Training and Education Sheona Macleod 2/2

I personally know several amazing doctors who are unemployed and looking to start training in February. The below short sighted decision by the clowns responsible for MSRA has all but locked them out. Please share widely.

Bank holiday reminder: Resident doctors are the worst paid members of staff working in hospitals today. FY1/FY2s are the first port of call for dozens of patients and carry huge responsibility in ensuring patients stay safe. No wonder doctors are still angry.

I worked 2 bank holidays on call for ortho as an F2. On the first, I took 7 referrals to review patients over 40 minutes as I tried to have lunch. When I saw my registrar, they had been told I "wasn't answering my bleep" (1/3)

Richard (@richardsjboyle) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The second, I set a hard line of 4pm when I would go and have lunch. By 6pm I still haven't managed to but I'm determined the next issue can wait. Next bleep I'm told the patient is "just out of surgery, bleeding badly, we're applying pressure but it just won't stop" (2/3)

Richard (@richardsjboyle) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Needless to say, they weren't bleeding badly, it stopped quickly and I didn't have lunch that day. No F1 either day so it was demoralising to look around and know that everyone I saw was getting paid more than me despite the pressure and responsibility of my job. (3/3)

DoctorsVote has backed many women all the way from regional rep roles, to chair and deputy chair positions in UKRDC and JDConf. This weekend, we’ll be shining a light on some long-standing female reps, as well as some excellent new women who are joining this year. 1/4
