In india PhD students are considered as lower division expendable work force ( very harsh but true). If the advisor do not respect the PhD students as colleagues then it will be difficult to build up a healthy accademic environment.nature.com/articles/d4415…

1/ If you plan to publish at ACS Nano, this may be of interest. Turns out they have a (secret) list of 10 "forbidden terms" in their papers: "new," "novel," "first time," "paves the way," "opens up," "opens the door," "unprecedented," "unique," "remarkable," and "sheds light".

Indian gov't is buying a subscription to 13,000 academic journals, and then making them all available to "18 million students, faculty, and researchers" for free. The cost is $715 million over 3 years. It includes Elsevier, Nature, and AAAS. Have any other countries done this?
