Here’s a reminder that it’s households (as opposed to the government) that are falling behind on their debts. Figures released by the Bank of England today show the value of outstanding mortgages with arrears was £21.9 billion, up 32% year on year.

This Saturday will be 3 years since I was knocked off my bike by a van and fractured my spine. I was lucky. We can't encourage cycling (and we must) without protecting cyclists from the tyranny of motor vehicles. My condolences to the family and friends of Robert Sapsford.

Exactly right. The monetary system, in all of its complexities, is a human invention. Where it is no longer fit for purpose, it can be changed to facilitate policies that serve the needs of the people.
