Levels of insecurity and poverty seem to be getting worse. I fear we could be heading for a recession. Growth strategies do not appear to be tackling basic fundamentals such as high energy costs and regional inequalities.

There is no reason why we should have a lower life expectancy than every other major country while spending nearly 2x as much per capita on health care. The function of a rational health care system is to provide quality care for ALL, not make insurance and drug companies rich.

Westminster does not work for Yorkshire. We want a Yorkshire Parliament. English independence would do nothing for us. Westminster has completely failed to tackle English regional inequality.

I think it will be really interesting to see which direction the Green Party takes. I still think there is space for regional parties such as the Yorkshire Party but there must also be scope for more inter party cooperation where it is mutually beneficial.

I think the issue here is to draw attention to the fact that Yorkshire; a region with a similar population to Scotland, an economy around twice the size of Wales, is not a political entity, is more than a county but not a country; has no powers and is not recognised by UK gov.
