Affordable housing is the real “public safety complex.” Studies clearly show that housing lowers crime while increased police presence doesn’t. Police can only react to crime that has already occurred - crime driven by desperate conditions that Johnston’s mayor is making worse.

Last night, the Johnston Town Council (all Democrats) voted to buy a piece of land to prevent the building of new affordable housing. Cops wouldn’t let protesting community members inside. Once again, capitalist politicians fail to act in the interests of working people!
