I detect that many people on the left are just as opposed to & weary of liberal identity politics/'wokeness' as people on the right - maybe more so. Because it can be a distraction from bigger issues, is divisive and sees people as categories rather than people. Am I wrong?

No, I take mental illness very seriously. What I don't like is people cynically using 'mental health' as a protective shield against any poor performance or justified criticism. It distracts attention from those with mental illness who need help/care/treatment.

We have medicalised every normal emotion to the point where people don’t even use words anymore. People say ‘my anxiety is playing up’ when they mean ‘I am scared’. People say ‘I’m so depressed’ when they mean ‘I am very sad/low’. People say ‘I am so OCD’ when they are just tidy.
