On Saturday our volunteers partnered with Delgany Tidy Towns and the residents of Thorndale estate to plant 250 native trees to create a new hedgerow This hedgerow will be an oasis of life for the estate in just a few years, full of birds, bees, butterflies and other fauna 💚

We were delighted to collaborate with ReWild Wicklow in planting the oak saplings donated by Richard and Wendy Nairn! These were planted in a special area of our reserve called Gretchen's Grove, dedicated to one of our generous sponsors and are now protected by deer fencing 🌳🌱

We're excited to finally take on our first riverbank restoration projects this year! Join us as we combat erosion, improve water quality, prevent flooding and enhance aquatic and terrestrial habitats for a myriad of flora and fauna species across Wicklow rewildwicklow.ie/volunteer

Wicklow Gap junction at Glendalough got a makeover yesterday! Partnering with Laragh & Glendalough Tidy Towns, we planted 50 native trees of rowan, hawthorn, hazel, and birch in mesh cages to protect them from deer, with the support of NPWS. A scenic wildlife haven ahead 🌳🪺🐝🦇

Nursery maintenance day at ReWild Wicklow Pesky 🐁 got a load of the acorns

Last weekend we visited Wildacres nature reserve to help dig a sediment trap pond. There's sediment runoff from the adjoining agricultural land, so this pond will help protect the other 35 wildlife ponds and the Redcross River. A grateful frog paid us a visit 🐸
