When Timothy Keller (1950-2023) taught preaching at City to City he did it in five sections: 1. Preach the text 2. Preach Christ 3. Preach grace 4. Preach to the heart 5. Preach to culture Getting it right (1-3); getting it across (4-5). I come back to that a lot. All are essential.

This is an interesting and quick guide to the history of the ESV. I got one of the first copies over 20 years ago, because of an older brother in Wheaton at the time. I later helped with the Systematic Theology Study Bible. I would add that Covenant Seminary played a big role too!
